These June days living in Eastern Oregon are days filled with light. Winter has it’s beauty but when darkness sets in at 4 pm it can get a little dreary. Having light from 4:30 am until almost 10 pm has it’s advantages! More time in the light is a beautiful thing.
Light is used throughout the New Testament as a picture of what it means to walk with the Lord. Contrasted with darkness light is the picture of an open, transparent, faithful and free relationship with Father God. A picture of his presence. More time in the light is most definitely a beautiful thing!
There is a reason why one of the most key and powerful ploys of the enemy is to get us to live in the shadows, where we are not experiencing freedom or joy. Shadow living is not necessarily walking in pitch black darkness. No, it’s just out of the light. We see the light but are just out of reach of it. This is where fear and sadness reign. It’s a place of self protection and mistrust. We can mistakenly see this gift of light as a revealing, fearful and exposing thing. Please don’t fear the light. Step out of the shadows. Better yet, allow the Lord to lead you today to a new place of shade free living! Where the light of God purges away the shadow and brings healing and freedom to those places where we so desperately need it.
Living in the light is to be fully known and fully loved by God. Don’t settle for anything else today!
1 John 1:7 NIV
“But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship with one another, and the blood of Jesus, his Son, purifies us from all sin.”
